Hello, and a happy new year to my handful of blog followers !

2011 was a “whirl-wind year” in both my life, as well as the craft beer world. In keeping with my tradition, I will not type too much about 2011 and instead, will focus on the year ahead.

One of my “new year’s resolutions” was to actually do a bit more blogging this year. So, with that said:

First up, we have several beer events happening in the Tampa Bay area VERY soon so I figured I would point a few out. Each will be mentioned in a separate blog posting.)

Event: Barleywine On The Bayou
Date and time: January 20th 2012 (Friday!) from 6PM – 9PM
Location: Cajun Cafe (Pinellas Park)
Sponsor: Dunedin Brewers Guild
Cost: $40 – (tickets are very limited) [INCLUDES FOOD!!]

As I have mentioned several times, I am typically not a fan of the Barleywine style. I do appreciate the style and there are several that I have enjoyed over the years but overall, I lean away from.

Now, I am about to completely contradict my previous statement. While looking over the list below, I see several brews that I would love to sample. (Keep in mind several are not Barleywines rather winter warmers and heavy beers.)

It is always pretty awesome to relax on the deck at the cafe ON the bayou, enjoying nature, and drinking one of many many beers that they have on tap and in bottle. They make some pretty darn good food too which is always a plus. If you do make it out, enjoy but be safe – and be sure to drop back by and let me know how the event was!

It has been a long time since I have published anything to this blog mainly due to the fact that I have just been so darn busy. But, I HAD to take a moment to promote this really cool charity/fundraiser event.

On Saturday, October the 15th, the Pourhouse in Tampa will be hosting a fundraiser event for DARE (Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education). DARE is the largest dachshund rescue group in Florida and has been caring for and finding homes for abused and abandoned doxies for well over 10 years now.

The Pour House will donate profits to DARE from beer sales…. this is usually around a few hundred dollars!! So come THIRSTY DARE FRIENDS

There will be music, they have an outdoor courtyard, and dogs are welcome to attend as well! Should your pupper(s) wish to drink some beer, make sure they bring their ID! LOL!!

For more info, please visit and patronize: www.pourhousetampa.com See ya there!

As a dachshund owner, this is an event that is close to my heart. Additionally, I have seen several horribly abused dachshunds in my life and am a strong supporter for the adoption of animals from reputable rescue groups such as DARE or your local SPCA.

So, come on out on Saturday the 15th to drink some beer and help support a great cause.
