Halloween means pumpkin beer!

OK, so I am a bit late to talk about pumpkin beers as Halloween is just around the corner (tomorrow). Well there is a good reason for that. I didn’t find myself having the hankering to try any of this years offerings until just a few days ago. Being that we are only a few days away from the actual holiday, the pickings are slim. With that said, I have just a few notes about the two pumpkin beers that I did sample this year.

1. Shipyard Pumpkin Ale

A longtime favorite of mine. I remember years ago drinking this beer on tap at the Florida Beer Festival in Centro Ybor. I actually voted this beer as my #1 pick for that event. Not much had changed. This beer is still a delight to drink. It is a bit more spicy this year it seems with the nutmeg really coming through. Readily available at most beer stores and supermarkets (if you are lucky).

Alcohol: 4.5% ABV

2. Dogfish Head Punkin Ale

A much stronger beer than the Shipyard Ale and much better than last year as well. Dogfish Brewing seems to have perfected the spice combination on this brew this year. This yummy brew is only found only in 4 packs – grab it if you see it. My local beer store is sold out!

Alcohol: 7.0% ABV

These pumpkin beers are a perfect treat to to end the summer months and ease our way into the winter months. Look for winter beers to start appearing shortly.
