Lagunitas Censored Rich Copper Ale

I have been talking a lot lately about Lagunitas beers (say “LAH-GOO-KNEE-TUSS), but for good reason. Everything that keeps coming out of Brewing Company has been great. I only have two more that I would like to talk about: The Lagunitas Censored and the Sirius cream in an upcoming blog post.

If you have keep up with this blog or read through it a bit, you will notice that I am a bit of a hop head. I drink mainly American Pale Ale (APA) and India Pale Ale (IPa). I have have mentioned, I really like all the beers that have been coming out of Lagunitas (I might even give the Czech Style Pilsner a try). With that in mind, I just couldn’t pass up the chance to try the Censored Rich Copper Ale. The bottle was intriguing enough. Just exactly are they trying to cover up here with a large “CENSORED” stamped across the label? Well, I was willing to found out so I purchased two 12 ounce bottles for my wife and I to sample.

Decanted into a mug, this brew pours a dark copper color with just the right amount of head. This is not a mind-blowing, overpowering beer. Flavors are there but subtle. I feel that it was brewed to be drinkable and drinkable it is. This ale gets help in that regard due to the ingredients that are used. You can tell that this beer is super fresh. Overall, a good beer but I think I will stick to my IPA’s.

So what is the “censored” word on the label? I will let you figure that out for yourself. Hint here.
