MLB – Ballpark Brews

“Peanuts, popcorn, Coca-Cola – Budweiser”! Those were the words that I remember the vendors yelling at Al Lang Field in Saint Petersburg. When I was younger, I would often go there to watch the minor league Cardinals baseball team play ball.

At the time, I was too young to drink beer. It is probably a good thing as Budweiser was one of the only beers they sold.

Times have changed. I can drink beer now and the Saint Petersburg Cardinals are no longer in existence. Instead, I sometimes find myself at Tropicana Field (home of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays). The beer choices have changed too. Budweiser is still the official sponsor of Major Leauge Baseball, but our local stadium carries a wide assortment of imports and microbrews as well!

Around the stadium there are two places where you can find some interesting imported and microbrews on tap. The past three visits, I have seen the following (All of these are on draft and served in 24 ounce cups priced at $8.00):

Anchor Steam
Sam Adams Lager
Harpoon IPA
Stella Artois
Yuengling Lager
Blue Moon Belgian Wheat
Ray’s Red (which I believe is made by Anheuser Busch)

In addition to whats on tap, there are also several “Beer’s of the World” stands around the ball park that offer select bottled beers:

$7.00 – 16oz

Bud Light
Piper’s Pale Ale (a good locally brewed Pale Ale by the Dunedin Brewery)

$6.50 – 12oz

Amstel Light
Heineken Light
Kirin Ichiban
Red Stripe
Smirnoff Ice
Tire Bite

I would love to hear what beers you are drinking or see at your MLB stadium. Please leave some comments below.
