More Pumpkin ales

Just because Halloween has already come and gone this year, that does not mean we shouldn’t continue to enjoy a nice pumpkin ale now, or any other time throughout the year for that matter.

I have sampled several more pumpkin beers since wring my first article in October. Several of those include:

  1. Jack’s Pumpkin Spice Ale (Anheuser-Busch)
  2. Post Road Pumpkin Ale. I was able to try PR from the Brooklyn Brewery
  3. Lakefront Brewery Pumpkin Lager
  4. Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin

Unfortunately I missed any locally brewed Pumpkin Ale’s including the one from BJ’s Brewhouse right down the road from me.

I think the Lakefront Brewery Pumpkin Lager really pulls through as the winner in this bunch. The ale has a really strong taste of pumpkin which I think imparts a very smooth almost earthy taste into the beer. I found some great information about this Lager on the Lakefront website here.

Lakefront Pumpkin Lager was one of the first pumpkin beers in the United States since Prohibition, creating an entirely new category of craft beer.

In 2007, the Great American Beer Festival has a distinct category for pumpkin beers.

Lakefront Pumpkin Lager is the only pumpkin lager beer in the world. All others are ales.

Overall, I have really like all the pumpkin beer I have samples this year. I am really looking forward to next year’s offering.
